I've become increasingly convinced that financial firm owners need something different.
Not another conference where we sit in rows, listen to presentations, collect a few ideas, and go home.
What I keep imagining
A retreat built specifically for accounting and bookkeeping firm visionaries. A place where owners openly share their tech stacks, team structures, wins, failures and lessons learned.
Where we learn EOS principles together, build automations together, experiment with AI and vibe coding together — and leave with an AI accountability agent that keeps supporting implementation long after the event ends.
A place focused on building, not just learning.
I've been sketching it out under the name NorthStarrs, and the more I think about it the more I believe Canada needs something like this.
The ask
Which brings me to the uncomfortable part.
Chad Davis and Mike Libbey are two of the people I respect most on technology, automation and helping firms think differently about the future. Kellie Parks has built an incredible reputation for leadership, execution, and helping firms create meaningful change.
All three are wildly successful, incredibly busy, and have more opportunities than time. So this is a big ask.
But if there's even a small chance any of them would be accountability partners while I explore bringing this to life, I'd be grateful. Not because I need someone to do the work. Because I know how much I'd learn along the way.
What I'm committing to
- Build something that genuinely helps firm owners move from ideas to implementation.
- Create a community where collaboration matters more than competition.
- Help firms leave with tangible results, not just inspiration.
Whether the retreat happens or not, I wanted to say publicly that each of those three has raised the bar for the rest of us.
